![]() February 6th is Winter Walk to School Day! The Waterloo Region District School Board is a partner in the Active and Safe Routes to School workgroup because active transportation is healthy, it's clean, it's safe, it's educational, and it's fun and easy! WRDSB schools support a variety of active transportation programs such as Wayfinding, Cycling into the Future, Ontario EcoSchools, and the Walking School Bus. Find out more about these programs on the WRDSB website. The WRDSB also has an Active Transportation Charter which reminds us that "active transportation is an important component of a healthy lifestyle and contributes positively to learning." Supportive policies, infrastructure, and programming on active transportation help guide "staff, students, parents and the Board of Trustees to consider how activities and decisions can encourage active transportation." So, if you haven't had a chance to use 'human-powered' transit to travel to school, Winter Walk to School Day may be a perfect time to try it! #365ofgoodWR
