![]() We're very fortunate to have The Working Centre in our community as they offer a wide variety of services and supports in a way that values what all individuals contribute to our community. One of the many things on offer from the Working Centre is St. John's Kitchen. From their website: "St. John’s Kitchen is a gathering place for people in downtown Kitchener. Its diverse community includes many people who are experiencing homelessness, at risk of homelessness, or street involved. For over 30 years, people have come to St. John’s Kitchen to be with others, have conversation, prepare a daily meal and share it together, and access a variety of supports and resources. It’s a place where people come together in the spirit of respect and mutual support. Since 2006, St. John’s Kitchen has been located at 97 Victoria St. North, on the second floor of a converted warehouse. It is a bright open space with high ceilings and many windows, full of plants and artwork. Each weekday morning, people sit together and have coffee and toast, chat, play cards, or quietly enjoy each other’s company. By mid-day the space is bustling, as around 300 people gather to share the hot meal. With only a few staff, most of the food preparation, serving, and cleanup work is done by volunteers. People accessing supports and resources at St. John’s Kitchen also often contribute to the preparation and serving of the meal." If you haven't visited yourself, I encourage you to do so. Have a meal, chat with others, and learn a bit more about the great things happening in that space. Better yet, consider donating or volunteering if you can! Email Tom if you're interested in doing so. #365ofgoodWR
