Kitchener is looking at starting a new transportation pilot that would reduce the speed limit in 3 residential areas within the city. The 50km/hr speed limit would be reduced to 40km/hr and the 40km/hr in school zones in those neighbourhoods would be reduced to 30km/hr. The pilot area covers about 200 streets and would start this Fall and last until Fall 2020. At that point, it will go back to council to review regarding next steps.
The pilot project will be presented at Committee on the morning of August 12th. As always, residents can speak to this issue as a 'delegation'. If that interests you, you can register as a delegation here. If you're not interested or able to speak in person, you can always share your thoughts about this by contacting your councillor.
