Sanctuary is a local organization providing "patient-centred, evidence-based health care, recognizing issues arising from persecution, trauma, migratory stress, and social integration." They support newcomers in navigating and accessing care in our healthcare system, as well as offering many additional supports. At Sanctuary "patients have access to a wide variety of services on site, including psychological and mental health assessment; trauma counselling; dietary advice; assistance with settlement issues; help in completing applications for income security and disability benefits; health education; and special programs designed to meet needs around childbirth, parenting, and respect for diversity."
Sanctuary turns 6 this year and they are also adding an extension to their clinic - 2 great reasons to celebrate! Join in the festivities on May 4th between 1:00 and 5:00pm at the Kitchener Market Piazza. There will be food and fun, including children's activities. You are also welcome to tour the clinic.
