My first 'real job' after graduation was with the House of Friendship as the School Readiness Preschool Teacher. I provided programming for 3 and 4 year olds while their parents were enrolled in the ESL course. I had a ton of fun with those kiddos and it also provided me a closer look at all of the work that House of Friendship does in our community.
Like many others, I was saddened to hear of the fire this week at the construction site of the addiction centre currently being built for the House of Friendship. Fortunately no one was hurt, but this is a big setback in creating a much needed addiction treatment centre in Cambridge. Now, this blog is all about #365ofgoodWR so I want to note that our community has been quick to rally support for the House of Friendship since news of the fire was released. If you're inspired by the work of House of Friendship, and are able to provide a donation to support them, you can do that here.
