What does home mean to you? Students in grades 4-6 are invited to answer that question in a national writing contest that helps raise funds for Habitat for Humanity builds across the country.

Students can submit a poem or essay with a response to 'What does home mean to you?' $10 will be donated to the local Habitat for Humanity for every entry submitted. The winner (one for each grade level) is able to direct a $25,000 grant to their favourite Habitat build. Additionally, nine $5000 grants are handed out to each runner-up. Click here for contest rules.

Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region is a non-profit founded in 1988. They bring "communities together to help families build strength, stability and independence through affordable homeownership." Habitat staff and volunteers work towards creating a community where "everyone has a decent and affordable place to call home." Find out more about current builds in our community, ways you can help, and learn about the ReStore on their website.
