![]() On the same day that the Duke St temporary Safe Consumption Site opened, we learned that the province approved Kitchener's application for a permanent Consumption and Treatment Services location (also at 150 Duke). More details can be found on the province's website which states "Ontario's new Consumption and Treatment Services model saves lives by preventing overdose deaths and connecting people who use drugs to primary care, treatment, rehabilitation, mental health, and other health and social services. That's why Ontario continues to connect people to wrap-around supports through the approval of a community-led application for a new Consumption and Treatment Services site in Kitchener." This news means that the province will provide the approximate $1.6 million dollars the Region requested to run the site. The temporary site opened yesterday and the permanent site is scheduled to open in February 2020. Read more about it in this CBC article. #365ofgoodWR
