Day 15 of #365ofgoodWR encourages us to look at how investments can work to support healthier, sustainable, and livable communities. This can be done through divestment, which helps you "use your economic might (great or small) to send a powerful message about your priorities."
Divest Waterloo helps "initiate and support divestment campaigns across the region". They want to encourage local governments, universities, institutions, businesses, individuals, and more, to "shift our collective investments away from fossil fuels".
Divest Waterloo hopes to bring awareness to this issue in a variety of ways, including hosting local events such as tonight's Stewards of Our Future: Protecting What We Love with guest speaker Dr. Dianne Saxe, Environmental Commissioner of Ontario. The event is sold out but you can live stream it on Facebook.
