Last week I highlighted the Bring On The Sunshine Festival as part of the #365ofgoodWR project. That group has now partnered with Bridges to offer an African Drumming class which is happening tonight. It starts at 5:30pm at the Adult Recreation Centre (185 King St S) and it's free to participate.

I was not very familiar with the work of Bridges so I did a bit of research and this is what I discovered:
  • In May of 2018, Waterloo was awarded a federal grant to help pursue an intergenerational and intercultural learning program - called Bridges
  • It focuses on building cultural connections by inviting residents of Waterloo to experience cultural knowledge and traditions from seniors who are affiliated with Waterloo’s many ethnic and immigrant communities.
  • It  aims to empower Waterloo’s elders as teachers, mentors, and leaders for youth.
I'm excited to learn more about Bridges as I believe that we all benefit from intergenerational connections. Find out more on their website.
