I love having a little library on my property as it encourages people to slow down and linger a little, something I think we can all benefit from! Whenever I see folks using my little library, I still get excited.
Last week I noticed someone spending quite a long time perusing every book and magazine currently in the little library. I continued on doing some things around the house and peeked out the window now and then to see this person still looking through each book. I could see a bit of a book pile was accumulating in this time as well. Eventually I looked out the window to see the person walking away. I thought I better take a quick look and see if the little library would need some new books added to it. Indeed it did. However, amongst the few books still in there, I found a note. It said "Thank you for several great books. They are going to St. Mary's Place. The hostel for homeless and abused women at 84 Frederick. They will be appreciated."
Needless to say I was thrilled that those books would be well used and that this individual had clearly taken a lot of time to select the books as well as to write a note about her plans. Often this blog shares about larger organizations with many staff or volunteers doing great things, but often #365ofgoodWR can also be found in simple, small acts like these :)
